Rick is one of the original founders of the firm. He is now semi-retired, but continues his practice as "of counsel" to the firm. His practice emphasizes mortgage banking, commercial litigation, real estate finance, and real estate. 

Rick has more than 38 years' experience representing mortgage lenders, both as in-house and outside counsel. He has extensive litigation experience in the mortgage banking field, including class action defense, repurchase disputes, lender liability defense, pursuit of mortgage fraud perpetrators, title insurance disputes, and employment disputes.

 

He regularly advises mortgage bankers and mortgage brokers in transactions such as loan documentation, correspondent agreements, sales of loans and loan servicing, and warehouse lending. He also renders advice on mortgage banking compliance matters, including compliance with CFPB regulations, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Truth in Lending Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, and fair lending.

 

He has been involved in drafting Colorado legislation relating to mortgage lending and was an original member of the Colorado Mortgage Broker Rule Making Task Force.

 

Rick has been selected as an arbitrator in major arbitrations involving mortgage banking, has been qualified as an expert witness in mortgage lending litigation, and frequently gives speeches to mortgage industry groups.
